What sets the Micro STEM Fest Kits apart is their adaptability and accessibility.
Designed to be utilized during the school day, the kits empower older elementary
students (fifth- or sixth-grade) to take on the role of mentors, guiding their younger
peers through the hands-on activities. This peer-to-peer learning model not only
reinforces STEM concepts but also cultivates leadership skills and fosters collaboration
among students of different age groups.
Thanks to support from the STEM Action Center and Lucid in Education, 26 Micro
STEM Fest Kits have been funded, making them available across the state of Utah at
various housing locations in Logan, Kaysville, Salt Lake City, South Jordan, Lehi, Orem,
Tooele, Price, Loa, Cedar City, Ephraim, Nephi, Blanding, and Moab.
This initiative aims to ease access to quality STEM education, bridging the gap between
urban and rural communities and empowering students from all backgrounds to pursue
their interests in STEM fields.
